Is God in control?

1John 5:19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

Prov 19:3 People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the LORD.

‎1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world– our faith.

How did it all start?

Gen 1:26  Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Who was in control of the earth once God made Adam? Well who had dominion? ADAM not God. So we start with the first Adam being in control. Then he abdicates to the devil. Then the last Adam comes and gives us power to overcome the world – which the NT says is still under the control of the evil one.

So who does the bible say is on control? The devil. But who allows him to successfully exercise his control? Believers who can overcome him.

Let’s consider a human example. Chicago in the 1930’s. (Forgive me if I have the date wrong).

It was in the CONTROL of the mafia – even though AUTHORITY was vested in the State. Over time the police ENFORCED the authority of the State such that the Mafia waas no longer in control. Or many parts of Columbia – control rests with the drug barons, but not authority. There must be thousands of  such examples.

Any way you cut it, God has given us believers the responsibility, so when bad things happen, the devil did it and WE allowed it.

Stop STOP STOP blaming God for what you allowed to happen.

    Couldn’t agree more Jeremy

I’ve been meaning to write about this heresy as well – if God were really in control of everything that happens on the planet, that would make Him responsible for earthquakes, murders, wars, floods, abortions, rape, famine, etc. This means that the rescue workers and doctors in Christchurch were working OPPOSED to God’s will when they were rescuing those trapped in the rubble.

    Keep spreading the good news!
